Rating: 1 (not edible) to 5 (food heaven!): A Solid 4 on Food! A lack-luster 2 on service (however at a later visit, service up their game to a solid 4 as well!)
I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious our lunch was! No seriously, I had a salad and it was freaking amazing! Came here on a Friday for lunch and OMG, what a crowd… look to the left, tourist just finishing sights at the Highline… look to the right, industry locals of the artsy… well.. thank goodness for OpenTable! Made a reservation for 12:45 and was surprised we were seated only 10 mins after our reservation. (Hint: they have bar seatings for those flying solo)! Hostess was nice & preppy.
Decor: modern, festive for Fall.. I would recommend changing those red leather bench to a tufted black leather for more ‘oomph’.. right now it looks outta place like a diner..esque… open kitchen, for those wishing to watch how their food is being prepare.. didn’t like that ‘restaurant kitchen smell’ on my clothes though.. the unisex WC is clean, but a bit dark.. not sure why.. still, no lines!
Food: free sourdough bread (when offered, always say yes!) w butter.. ok, we skipped the starters bc we worker bees had only 1hr for lunch. Lunch date had the Skirt Steak… nothing to brag about.. just steak.
Me – I had this amazingly awesome seared Chicken breast over kale/dried cranberries/walnuts – I literally licked the plate… the chicken was moist, tender and the skin was seared & full of flavors.
Dessert: apple crisp (fried pastry with caramelized apples, and ice cream), pumpkin bread w pumpkin ice cream (fried pumpkin doughnuts!)
Overall it was a great meal. I will be returning to try other treats on the menu.. just maybe not during touristy hours… and yes, why 3 stars?
The food itself is 4 stars!! I took off 1 star for my waitress’ disappearing act… another waitress had to give us the dessert menu & couldn’t locate her when we wanted our check.. took over 15-20mins before we grabbed another waitress to just pay for our bill. The other minus – not offering us a table away from the outdoor seating – I asked if we could take the other table away from the gusting cold wind.. ‘sorry, that table is being transform for a party of 6’. Really? We would be half way done by the time ur party of 6 all showed up… seriously, they did. We got our bill as they sat down.
